The Forest Road is not a road, but a system of Rivers. In Alantheanor, the Capitol of Naelaceron, two rivers converge and diverge a short while later via a large Lake (the Ha'Alanth). One, the Ashocalionsa in the Naelathen tongue, makes its way to the Stormy Sea and Mar-Adimore. The second Outflow, Thialionsa, flows through Elaceri on its way to the Opaline Ocean, passing the Elathen city of Wilantharlor. The two Inflows are the MoonRiver, having its origin in Celenest, and the Mirarmsa, which passes Mirarm in the north. The port of Re'suliai, a trading city for the Alathae and Elathe is located at the mouth of the Road. Together, these Rivers and their many branches and tributaries make up the Forest Road through which almost all the Trade and Commerce of Worldstree flows.
The River system of Worldstree is mostly engineered. Such a complex system could never be wholy navigable without Magical aid, which, over the millenia, has been applied wholesale. Even the Lung Dragons aid in this, as it pleases them to charge tolls in the form of opals and pearls. The standard traders' journey takes eight year to travel between the Stormy Sea and the Opaline ocean. Worldstree ships rely on wind and magic rather than oars.
