Gralathar

The Gralathar are a Race of Gold Elves that live in the Darkwood beyond the Landspine Mountains. They have dusky gray-brown skin with dark green, black or light brown hair. Thier eyes are universally amber. They are somewhat taller than Naelathe and Elathe, and a little broader. Gralathar clothe themselves in shirts and pants, but wear no shoes. Sometimes they affect capes, or use capes with camouflage patterns to aid in hiding. All clothes are of delicate natural colors, most often green or brown.

The Gralathar have no internal Organization or method of ranking themselves. They live in perfect Anarchy. Nor do they have a defined Social Structure. For personal reasons, they usually live in groups of five to ten, but loners are common and "tribes" of up to fifty exist. Some make permanent or semi-permanent Homes, others do not. Some are stationary, some are nomadic. Internally, groups have no Leadership. Groups are formed on unanimous consent and dissolve with any disagreement. Their nautural environment provides them with sufficient clothing and shelter year round without any need or effort. Like all Elves, they do not eat or suffer from natural cold.

Gralathar pairbond for varying amounts of time. Since Gralatharn children require little care, raising them is not an issue. Children can be cared for by mother, father, a group, a random individual or by themselves. No Gralathar will knowingly allow any infant creature of any Race die of neglect. They raise many Bears, Birds and even Wolves as children.  Gralathar do not acknowledge relations beyond mother and father, terms which are usually applied to parental figures, not biological parents

Gralathar are an emotional People. They love, weep, mourn rejoice etc. with little provocation. Gralathar experience a full range of mortal emotions plus addtional ones. They seek out these experiences, and measure the value of their lives in terms of them.  Gralathar are also innately curious and shy. The shyness expresses itself in a tendency to become Invisible when threatened.

Gralathar do not have a firm grasp of linear or cyclical Time. They think in terms of "my memories" and "other people's memories" and do not store them chronologically. Thus they have no grasp of divisions of Time. Gralathar see the passage of the seasons, but they see it as a smooth and unbroken flow, and do not name individual seasons beyond "when it's hot" or "when the leaves fall" etc. When speaking of the Past or Future, they describe the setting enough to remind the listener of the period of Time in relationship to the listener's own memories.

The Art of the Gralathar is thier Environment. Those that know the skill can cause an area to gradually alter until plants, rocks, even the quality of sunlight, everything is pleasing. Gralathar entertain themselves as other children do - they play. They tell jokes, play riddle games, play hide-and-seek, tag and they explore and adventure. They compete with each other only in Archery. Occasionally there are Night Dances, where large numbers of Elves dance and take hallucinagenic or aphrodisiac Potions.

All Gralathar have a supernatural danger sense. They also have the Knack of Invisibility. Some learn the tricks of Lesser Alchemy and a bit of BowCraft that gives them a wider range of powers. They are also adept at certain forms of ArtCraft.

Their "language" contains the sum total of all tone, pitches, body positioning, facial expression, etc: in short, every factor in communication. A speaker cannot lie and the language could never be committed to paper.
