Naelathe have tan skin and blonde, brown or auburn hair. Their eyes are most often green, but may also be either blue or brown. They tend to wear rather subdued clothing. Naelathen clothing is made of silk, flax, hemp or cotton. Elven styles tend toward the baggy, and during MidDay in the warmer parts of the kingdom, shirts are rarely seen (this applies equally to both sexes). In summer and winter elves wear baggy pants usually tucked into their boots. Long flowing silk robes with overlying sashes are the accepted formal dress. Though bright colors are common, Naelathe stick to earthy dyes.
The nation of Nealaceron lies in the southwest part of Treesland, though Naelathe are to be found throughout the Land. There are five great Naelathen Cities: Mirarm, Jolesae, Alantheanor, Yalaishae, and Mar-Adimore. Each of these is a Miracle of applied Magic, and each is unique. However, the vast majority of Nealathe live in smaller communities scattered throughout the Forest and along the Rivers. Most of these small communities number between one and three hundred individuals. Nealathe generally divide their people into two groups, Jhelgariaf, those that live on or near one of the three rivers, and Seluiariaf, those that live in the more rural forest areas. Most of the Nation considers itself Jhelgariaf. River-dwellers (the literal translation of Jhelgariaf) are more metropolitan than the forest-dwellers.Naelaceron is also the Heart of Savant Learning. Almost all Naelathe accept Savant philosophy of Balance, though they themselves are not Initiates and continue to play thier role in the Cycle (that is, the War).
Other Races frequently describe Naelathe
as frivolous and whimsical. From our point of view this is probably correct
- little that captures the interest of mortals will be of more than passing
interest of an Elf. The Naelathe's long lifespans
give them an odd sense of perspective. They almost never forget that, however
serious it may seem at the moment, whatever the problem is, it will pass
and life will go on. Their firm belief in the cyclical nature and innate
balancing of the universe adds substantially to this attitude. However,
if it becomes apparent that the Balance they so admire is honestly jeopardized,
Naelathe can be deadly serious and utterly singleminded - the Death endured
during the War is not to be forgotten.
Family
is also more important to Naelathe than to other Faerie
Races. Various Arts and Recreations
(aside from the War) are also enjoyed.
