The Faerie

Worldstree is the natural home of all the Faerie creatures. As creatures of Legend and Fantasy, they do not have biologies as such. All are truly immortal and immune to biological disease. Though they must drink, for most eating is recreational, requisite only for growth and healing. They heal rapidly and cleanly (there is no infection) and thus only die from sudden violence - a thing they go to great lengths to provide. Upon Dying, Faeries do not decay but instead slowly petrify into a woodlike substance, which is called Moridur or Deathwood.

Faeries are magical, and for the most part their magic is linked to the High Metals. The Metals themselves are somewhat resposible for dividing the peoples into categories:  there are Silver, Gold and Iron races. The Iron races strongly tend towards Evil, and the Gold races towards Good - the two tribes are considered opposites and eternally at War. Adding to this, Adamantite (High Iron) is poisonous to Gold Faeries as Faerie Gold is to Iron Faeries. The Dark Races also favor the drinking of blood and eating of flesh, and often prefer to live in the mountains or Underneath. The Silver Faeries are the noncombatants who favor coexistance, as they are harmed by neither Metal.

Faeries can be divided into certain catagories. Foremost, there are the Elves, who occupy most of the area directly around the Worldstree. The various tribes of Satyrs and the Centaur Nations also cover a lot of territory, though the Little People (Pixies, Sprites, etc) and Dryads are actually more widespread. The most fringe Race is that of the SnowMaidens, and perhaps the Hags.
