Despite the name, SnowMaidens are actually androgynous. They are breathtakingly beautiful, with pale icyblue skin, piercing blue eyes and snowwhite skin. They sex is usually perceived as whatever is desirable for the observer. Like all Faeries, they are ageless and do not need to eat. They are also completely immune to cold.

In theory, SnowMaidens are Hags, though they resemble those horrid beings little at all. They are Seelie faeries. They are very sensitive to heat. At above 50F, they start to *melt*. They loose one HT per hour per 10F above fifty. Thus a 10 HT snowmaiden will be a puddle in 5 hours at 60F. If most of the water remains in one spot, or even soaks into the ground at a certain area, the SnowMaiden with reform as soon as temps permit, regaining HT just as she lost it.

SnowMaidens are deeply tragic figures. Though lonely and gregarious, they are literally frigid. On kiss will turn any being into and ice statue (which will melt and reform just as the Maidens do). All the creatures of the IceMarches and Southern Darkwoods love them and frolic and dance for the entertainment of their Mistresses. The other creatures of the area, Selkies, Nia'aklu, Pine Dryads and even the horrid Korrputs avoid them entirely. At times, SnowMaidens enjoy tricking and freezing Korrupts. Some even keep statuaries of their victims, which they stroll amoung and dream dreams of true love.

Any being seeing a SnowMaiden has a good chance of developing an obsessive love, which is tough on both the suitor and the terribly lonely Maiden. Likewise, in their kind hearts, they cannot watch a helpless being freeze. Anyone attempting to force himself on a Maiden will meet only mild resistance - Maidens believe rapists get what they deserve.

The Major-Adept Savant of the IceMarches is a SnowMaiden. Another SnowMaiden often found in romantic Myths is named ShiningIcicle. She and a female Gri'ilklo female, known as ErmineCloak, have carried on an incredibly devoted platonic love affair for eons. On one might of each year, the Evening Solstice, some arcane magic has granted them the ability to spend the night together. To earn this, they must dance a SnowDance for a full month. ShiningIcicle has a castle built entirely of ice on the shores of the FrozenSea.
