Gryphons have the heads, wings and forefeet of Eagles and the hindquaters of a Lion. It is a fierce predator of the forest and mountains, choosing mostly Centaurs, Irisbix and Elves.

Gryphons can be tamed if captured young or as an egg, but it is not easy task, even for an Elethen animal trainer. Gryphons were created by Emperor Hsi Lung, the EagleMoon, as a gift to the Elathe.
