Arachnae

Weavers

Weavers are the female Arachnae, who can build cobwebs or orbwebs, depending on circumstances.  They are of the Iron Alliance, and delight in draining the blood from the Nymph and Pixies trapped in their webs. Physically, they have six arms and two legs and a mouth with protruding juice-sucking mandibles. Weavers have two compound eyes and a number of supplimental single orbs about their heads.  Large Weavers might have a ten inch body length with a fourteen inch spread of legs. Smaller ones could be half that. Their trunks are short and mostly nonfunctional, as they have bloated spider abdomens attached to their butts, from which silk is drawn from spinnerettes at the very tip. The most common types are Golden OrbWeaver Clans, which are tigerstriped and relatively nonvenomous. The most feared is the Black Widow, a small cobweb weaver with a distinctive black and red pattern that frequents civilized areas.

Hunters

Hunters are the males of the Arachnae. They are Good Natured Beings, and have nothing to do with their wives outside mating time. Hunters typically live in silk shrouded burrows with hidded trap doors. Unlike Weavers, they are Centaur-shaped, with four legs and four arms and a humanoid trunk held upright over a horizontal hairy spider abdomen. The second pair of arms is used to hold lassoes and nets of sticky spidersilk, which they use to trap their enemies. Hunters have two compound eyes and a number of supplimental single orbs about their heads. Enemies are eaten only if they are found to be irreconsiably evil, otherwise they are injected with the Hunter's paralytic venom and mummified until they can be taked to a safe location. Hunters are bigger than Weavers, ofter over a foot and much heavier, as they do not have to tread on thin threads. Hunters' bodies are typically hairy and not brightly colored.
