The Components used in Savant spells are generally referred to as Foci, to distinguish them from the Components of Lorecraft, and because other than the FourCorners Wand and Greater Mistletoe, they are optional.
First and foremost is Greater Mistletoe, which is in no way related to the plant parasite that grows on normal trees. Greater Mistletoe spring up from areas where Gates have opened on the Worldstree. A Savant's sprig is usually a recursive spiral with flat green leaves. A Savant must possess this to perform any Ritual.
Next most important would be the FourCorners Wand, which is made of cross sections of Apple, Hawthorne, Pine and Oak, bound with three rings, one of each of the Metals. Designs are carved in continuous spiral up the wand. This Foci is necessary to perform any of the Phase rituals.
Other Savant ritual items used in nature spells consist of dried herbs, leaves, fruits and nuts, along with bits of hair from various beasts and feathers from birds. There are usually a few bones and dried fungi. These bits are all kept in separate pouches and identified by color and inscriptions in Savant's Cant. These are helpful in Rituals of Neophytes, but not necessary.
As an Acolyte, a Savant will often have bits of various stones, a piece of Trimetite (a VERY rare alloy of all three High Metals), various types of earth and a quartz crystal for Earth. For Energy they use a Sunstone (which generate heat), a Moonstone (which generates light) and a Loadstone (for electricity). Each of these stones must be carven into the shape of an animal. For Life, they use the Egg of a Monster (which will not decay) and various types of dried flowers. For Entropy, they may construct a primitive watch, which must never be allowed to run down completely.
Savants also often carry Staves embued with special powers.
