Werephins are known only in the Opaline Ocean and in some of the rivers that connect to it, though never far up stream. Their hybrid form is that of a merman, resembling a thickbodied Alathaen Elf from the waist up with Dolphin's fluke. They are very  quick in the water, even moreso in their animal form, and much faster that the Alathae. Nevertheless, the two races share a bonding friendship and live in mixed communities throughout the Hundred Isles.  Werephin pods also inhabit the open waters of the mid and southern Opaline Ocean, where there are few Alathae (and more Monsters). As a race, they are friendly, playful and intelligent, and can use their highly developed sonar to SpellSing a a variety of ditties. They have little use for clothes in either form, and use few tools.
