Dream Lands

The Astsatse have a unique Art. They have the ability to enter a bizarre Shadow World: the Dream Lands, along with the power to steal Dreams and grabbing items from Dreams, plus a few more. They can invade others' Dreams, share Dreams, and forcibly transport someone into a Dream world.  Ice Elves also have imported technology brought back from thier dreamings, usually random, unique and strange items. The old Elven Arts of Magic are all but forgotten, now only the hobby of an especially eccentric few.

The Dreamland is an alternate Myth tied to the Higher Worlds by the subconcious minds of the their inhabitants. By various Travellers it has been called the Shadow Plane, the Dark Dimension and the Subethereal. The references to Darkness concern the strange nature of light in the Dreamland: the "sun" pours out black energy, which makes colorful shadows on the surface of the world. On Worldstree, shadow matter glows in  darkness, but is invisible in light.

The denizens of the Dreamland, Shades, are roughly like the inhabitants of the Higher Worlds: there are a variety of humanoid forms, plus standard Animals and many fantastic and grotesque Monsters. The minds of all Myths share an ultimate subconcious - they exist in the same mind. One travels to the Dark Dimension though one's mind, not magic.

As part of its Nature, the Dreamland has no connections to the outer planes linked to the Worldstree. Such Deities as inhabit these Myths cannot experience the Dream World at all, and few even know of it. As such Religions have little power. Nevertheless, a few powerful Alien Beings have made contact twith the Dreamland, the Source amongst them.

The passages that the Astsantse normally use take them to the North Pole of the Dream World.

Not all Astsantsean dreams concern the Dreamland. Dreaming is also a recreation and an art for them . As a show of ability, Dreamers will create spectacular Dreams and invite others to share them. Astsantse also spend countless hours lost in their own Dreams, from which they seek inspiration or personal satisfaction. Some hardy souls also go on trips of exploration in the Higher or Lower Worlda, though they must use Ice Magic to keep themselves alive.
