Redcaps are so named from their association with the redcap mushroom, Amanita muscaria. They are hideously bloated creatures cover by warty brown skin. All Redcaps are male. They live in Dark Forests where patches of muscaria grow. Redcaps are hugely carnivourous, relying on their ability to induce delusions to capture their food. For the most part, Redcaps are insectivores, feeding on the ShooFlies and other scavangers attracted to the smell of the mushroom (the creatures happily allow themselves to be eaten).  Redcaps also enjoy deluding other Beings, even ones too big to swallow, and most have other Evil Spells. In addition, their skin is poisonous, which Redcaps may use as a weapon. The poison causes violent uncontrollable retching and mouth foaming, but is not lethal.
