Here's some random notes on some of the junk lying around here and what gets used to make www pages, write java, and frag folks.
The current gateway is oldschool.grotto.worldofbeverage.net, my prized AMD 5x86/133 that I originally learned Java on in early 1996. It currently has 8MB of RAM, a 160MB HDD, and is running Debian potato with a 2.2 linux kernel. The whole mess is stuffed into an old laser control box in one of my racks:
The 'net connection is a half-duplex cable modem setup, where I upload via a modem over telephone line, and download via the cable TV network. I sure wish they would upgrade to full duplex soon, but beggars can't be choosers - this is the only bandwidth I can get out here.
